Your donations are more powerful than you know. Your money can fight rust, turn back time, and forge the future of rail preservation in America. In fact, the only thing your donations aren’t used for is supporting the NRHS, which uses membership dues to pay for the NRHS Bulletin, the NRHS News, administrative costs and activities like our conventions.

Railway Heritage Grants: Supporting Grass Roots Rail Preservation Projects

Since 1991, we have granted nearly $500,000 for over 200 vital preservation projects. NRHS receives many more worthy applications each year than we have funds to support.

$5,000 = 1 new rail preservation project.

RailCamp: Ensuring the Future of Rail Preservation

RailCamp sends 24 campers per season to Steamtown National Historic Site in Scranton, PA for a week, where they get a hands-on lesson in rail preservation, from steam locomotive repair and restoration to operations and railroad history interpretation. Your money provides RailCamp scholarships for worthy students with need.

$850 = 1 camper, 1 season

Film Preservation: Saving the Past

Train pictures and railway films are even more endangered than their iron and steel subjects. Our extensive photo archives need preservation and restoration, back-up duplication and more importantly, digitizing to make them available for historians, railfans, publications, educators and even commercial filmmakers.

$1,000 = restoring/digitizing 100 feet of film

Donations to the NRHS General Fund give the NRHS the flexibility to meet our most urgent needs. Your donation to the General Fund may be used to develop new programs for the future, meet emergency preservation needs or to supplement NRHS programs.
