So, you
want to know what Adult RailCamp is like? Here are some photos from
our 2006 camp that give you a flavor of the activities and events
for campers..

Track is
the basic structure for a railroad and maintaining it in good condition
is fundamental to safe operations. Tom Mather and Bill Barbe dig
the ballast away from a rotten tie in order to replace it.

RailCampers
Diane and Al Ramsey inspect the journals on the passenger car before
it departs for the first run on the morning. The journals require
adequate lubrication so that the friction bearings do not overheat.
The train conductor is seen walking away on the left of the picture.

Campers
Joe Virgona, Ron Murphy, and Ken Keels take tips about a cutting
torch from Dave Wingert in the shop at the Nevada Northern Railway
Museum on June 20, 2006. The cutting torch is one of the most frequent
used told in a railroad shop.

Ken Keels
generates a shower of sparks as he cuts through a one-half each
sheet of steel. Ken learned the burning process as a part of his
experiences in the Adult RailCamp program.
